Ecofluency Wilderness Immersion

25-29 August 2025

(Please note: the first immersion 18-22 August 2025 is now full)

THE INVITATION

Wildness is a place, in both our inner and outer landscapes, from which each of us have the capacity to draw on a deep, raw, and ancient power. This Ecofluency immersion in the African wild are designed to equip you with everyday skills through extraordinary experiences, to widen your senses and awareness, rekindling how you tap into that power.

These immersions are co-created by Steve Faulconbridge, wildlife TV-presenter and wilderness guide, and Dr Saskia von Diest, founder of Ecofluency and facilitator in the science, art and magic of communicating with all of Nature.

Our immersion begins in the rustic comfort of our exclusive base camp Nkula, nestled within Pafuri, the biodiverse jewel of the world-famous Kruger National Park in South Africa. From there, Steve will take us on daily walking journeys and game drives through the mountains, floodplains, and forests that make up this delicious slice of the African bush. Throughout our 5 days together, our shared ancestors and the natural elements - Air, Fire, Water and Earth - will also be supporting you, facilitated by Saskia.

As Steve and Saskia guide you in meeting the wise and majestic tree guardians and wild animals that inhabit this rich landscape, the invitation is to drop into the heart space, be present in every moment, and to remember what it actually feels like to be here, in eternal connection and conversation with all of Nature, as you have been before, and can be again.

THE SETTING

Nestled in the Lowveld region of South Africa, within the world-famous Kruger National Park, the Pafuri wilderness is a magical, diverse region with water pans, mountains, floodplains, majestic baobabs, fever tree forests, and the mighty Luvuvhu and Limpopo Rivers.

In winter, the water levels of the rivers are low, drawing an abundance of wildlife to the remaining water. Pafuri is the jewel of the Kruger, and is home to more than 85% of the biodiversity of this conservation region, also making it a birding hotspot. Encountering some of the Big Five - elephants, lions, leopards and buffalo - often happens, whether on foot or from our vehicle. Meeting giraffes, zebras, various antelope species, crocodiles, hippos, and many other iconic beings of the African wilderness is also very common. On lucky occasions, cheetahs and wild dogs are also spotted.

This richly populated landscape is the perfect setting for rewilding your soul, and rekindling your ancestral ability to commune and communicate with all of Nature.

WHAT IS ECOFLUENCY?

Before and during our 5 days together, you’ll learn practical skills in Ecofluency -  the science, art, and magic of two-way communication with Nature using a wider range of senses and awareness.

These practices will be taught by your facilitator Saskia, founder of Ecofluency, on the morning walks through the wilderness, in special areas and on game drives further from camp, and around the fire in the comfort of our base camp. The practices can be used in everyday life, and pre- and post-immersion online calls will help you integrate them.

This way of communicating with the other-than-human world exists beyond all languages, and the principles are the same, whether you choose to converse with small plants or towering trees, tiny insects or large animals, clods of compost or constellations of stars. It has been known and practised by indigenous peoples worldwide for millennia. It was practised by our ancestors in the very region of Pafuri, and can be reawakened.

All humans are born with this capacity to dialogue with any aspect of Nature, because we are Nature. Although many have forgotten how to use this ancient ability, this immersion offers an opportunity to reclaim the power of this birth-right, allowing you access to the deeper knowledge, wisdom and divinity of Nature that is not often available to our everyday human minds, to benefit all life.

Ecofluency is a critical skill for empowering physical, mental and emotional vitality, to grow beyond resilience into a dynamic state of thriving. It offers a key to unlocking greater joy and harmony in our relationships with ourselves, other humans, and the rest of Nature, and can be used within any faith or belief system.

This experience is for anybody interested in communing and communicating with Nature, including those who practise it already, although no previous experience is required. However, due to the type of practices that we’ll be doing, this event is not suited to those with strong addictions, including regular smokers.

On a practical level, communicating with Nature helps us make more holistic and efficient decisions in all aspects of our lives: growing food, choosing a place to live, understanding the behaviour of wild or domestic animals, creating rituals and ceremonies for inspiration and abundance, expanding your professional work in ecological alignment, or healing traumas to become whole and to spiritually evolve.

Human existence with other species depends on dialogue with them, as they call on us to co-evolve and create our future in alignment with all of Nature.

The world is waiting – join the conversation!

BASE CAMP

As our base, we have exclusive use of the rustic yet comfortable Nkula camp. Unfenced and open to the wild, this tranquil spot in the heart of the Pafuri is lucky to have visitors such as elephants, buffalo, leopards and possibly even lions. Wildlife etiquette will be discussed when you arrive at camp.

This eco-camp is off-grid, and has no generator and no cell phone signal, meaning that the night sky is deliciously dense with stars. However, the camp is equipped with solar lamps and solar chargers for your phone and camera batteries. Each tent, containing comfortable bedding on twin beds, has its own flushing toilet, and buckets showers which are made to order daily at your requested temperature.

All meals are included, provided in camp via a bush kitchen, and requests for certain meals can be made. We will have time to relax and integrate around the fire each evening, and there is also a fully stocked complementary bar, with ice refilled daily.

Participants are recommended to bring both warm and cool clothing, as temperatures vary greatly between day and night, ranging from 7 to 34 degrees Celsius.

Check in is at 14:00 on Day 1 of the Immersion, and check out is at 10:00 on Day 5, after we close our immersion.

DR SASKIA VON DIEST

Saskia is the founder of Ecofluency, as well as consultant, educator, activist, and occasional researcher in the field of Nature communication.

Attending an animal communication workshop during her PhD (Plant Pathology) in 2012 was the greatest turning point in her life, and sparked her interest in how farmers use intuitive communication with nature to inform practical management decisions. From 2014-2020, she held two postdoctoral fellowships, at Stellenbosch University, South Africa, and at Coventry University, UK, to investigate intuitive farming as part of a wider new field of subtle agroecology.

Throughout the last 10 years, she has further developed her own understanding and practice in communicating with trees, animals, land, nature spirits and ancestors. She’s also trained as a Family Constellations facilitator, and in the Way of the Warrior Healer for energy field clearings and psychic surgery.

In 2021, she left academia founded Ecofluency, to offer consulting, facilitation, teaching and coaching in Nature communication, and promote other human voices in this field. With 15 years of experience in teaching and facilitating through various forms and in many countries, her passion is creating opportunities for others to have their own experience of communicating with non-human Nature, and develop that for their own and the collective benefit.
